Reserve and Biological Station | | |  Accommodation | | Quinindé, also known as Rosa Zárate is located some 85 kilometers northwest of Santo Domingo de los Colorados. There are just a few basic hotels as follows:
Turista.- Located some 7 blocks south of the village (on the main road). Reservations: Tel. 02-2736784.
Residencial Paraiso.- Comfortable and quiet.
Sanz.- Located on the main street. Reservations: Tel 02-2736522.

Seafood and steaks. |  | | Bilsa Reserve and Biological Station | | Some 40 kilometers west of Quinindé is the Bilsa Reserve and Biological Station, managed by the Jatun Sacha Foundation. A 3,000 hectare reserve lying in a small range of coastal mountains at an elevation between 350-800m. The biodiversity in this place is very high and it is considered one of the world's major megadiversity spots. Monkeys, pumas, jaguars, new species of plants and endangered birds have been lately discovered.
To
get there hire a truck in Quinindé and ask to be left at La Y de la Laguna. From this place, the access to the reserve is a 25 kilometer hike through a muddy trail during the wet months (January to June), in the dry months you can access by jeep. Rustic accommodation is also available for up to 40 guests, as well as volunteer opportunities.
