The coast of Ecuador is a treasure chest of marine life and is considered to be more diverse in nature here than any where in the whole world making it a heaven on earth for the deep see diver.

For diving schools contact and research Diving tour agencies, who also will advise on rented diving equipment. The official course name for divers is called PADI and is inexpensive to the traveler's pocket.

The Galápagos Islands also have over 20 full time diving areas on the islands including both night and day facilities with each island varying in its own special ambiance and uniqueness attracting the various different marine life within its lands and surrounds.

A second lesser known but popular area for diving may also be found in the tranquil waters of Isla de la Plata in the central coast of Ecuador which is approximately 45 Km from the Machalilla National Park. Here you can find several colonies of sea Lions and the mammoth humpback whales migrating between the end of June and October period.

Snorkeling is also highly recommended to view the multitudes of beautifully marked and multicolored fish while hovering above you can see many types of ocean birds awaiting prey.
